Returned to L'Echelle for the 5-course chef's tasting menu — $75. Every course was perfectly composed. The sommelier's wine pairings were exceptional. Portland doesn't get enough credit for its French dining scene and L'Echelle is leading the charge. NW Portland gem.

Third tasting menu at L'Echelle. The sommelier now knows my wine preferences and suggests new discoveries each visit. The spring menu with Oregon morels and halibut was the best yet. $75 for 5 courses. NW Portland's finest. Book 2 weeks ahead for weekend tables.

L'Echelle in NW Portland does elegant French cuisine without pretension. The duck confit is perfectly crispy, the frites are addictive. $32-48 entrees. Intimate space with a great wine list. Portland does French food surprisingly well and this is the best example. Reservations recommended.

Solid workmanship but the office staff was hard to reach when I had questions after the job. The technician who did the work was great though. Just wish the front office matched that level of service.
