About LIFT Enrichment Healthy Culinary Workshops

LIFT Enrichment Healthy Culinary Workshops offers healthy culinary in-person workshops where students cook and learn different ways to put recipes together. The culinary workshops give students a hands-on opportunity to learn about nutrition while cooking with ingredients such as zucchini, cauliflower, spinach, and bell peppers. The workshops use a standardized curriculum that combines hands-on learning with lessons about culture, nutrition, and practical cooking skills. LIFT Enrichment partners with Title I schools and specializes in teaching healthy culinary workshops to students at Title I districts in California, New York, and Texas. Workshops can take place in any classroom with sink access, and the program brings everything needed, including a portable culinary kit and ingredients. The program is an after-school enrichment program that teaches more than 17,000 students weekly at more than 250 schools across California, New York, and Texas. According to program partners, “Parents love it. The students love it! They are trying new foods and it teaches them early. It teaches students what they need to know to prepare healthier options because they need to eat,” from Alfredo Perez, Aces Program Mentor, Panama Buena Vista USD. Amber Gascoigne, Director of Expanded Learning, Palm Springs USD, says, “Everyone between Kinder and 8th grade are having that hands on opportunity to learn about Nutrition, learning different ways to put recipes together and do it in a meaningful way.” Jorge Maldonado, Expanded Learning Opportunities Program Coordinator, Palmdale USD, says, “Students are learning things and they don’t even know they are learning!”
